The Heart of War

By Maya Mayne

The threat of darkening words loom,

And attempt to tear at the barrier I built.

My hope for a bright future provides a defense,

Against the spew of harsh words,

I embed within myself.

A constant conflict of contrasting words,

Within my mind to separate,

The doubts from the inspirations,

In a never-ending war.

Respect provides a protection,

Against the downpour of dubiety.

I feed the light to reveal a path to victory,

And overcome the rule of darkness.

We Are a Team

By Varga Michaud

Don't be put down

By the others around you.

Be strong, be confident.

Empower yourself and believe

That you can do it.

It doesn't matter what they think,

Just be yourself,

Work hard,

And love yourself for who you are.

It doesn't matter if you're the only girl

On the team.

It just makes you stand out,

In a good way.

Just take charge, and do what you can,

To make the team better than before.

We need to work together,

Because we are all a team.

Breaking News

By Maya Mayne

The news headline reads 'MURDER'.

The murder of a girl's confidence.

It was unexpected.

The dread of a vile weapon,

Constructed with harsh words,

Used to pierce a perfect heart.

The wounds bleed from the reservoir,

Of confidence,

Tormenting the vessel.

The crimson of the wounded,

Lays still in a cold puddle,

Thickening in composition,

And staining the floor.

The body is found,

Motionless on the foundations of life.

A breath of two reside on the scene,

Filling it with a healing air.

The dead has not left,

There is hope for healing,

Repairing the gashes,

With a bandage of hope.

The heart beats once more.

Faithful Emergence

By Maya Mayne

A step in the despair of destruction

A whiff of the thick sulfur of cruelty

A taste of the harsh poison on my tongue

A grip on the lifeline of hope

A flashlight to light my way through the dark days

A mask to filter the hostile fumes

An antidote to heal my sickness

A scar marking the battles I fought

Be the survivor emerging from the fiery ashes

Become the lost embers igniting the blaze in your heart

Belong to a rebellion revolting against the torment

Blind the despair which deconstructs your soul

Control of the peace once again

A Roaring Perseverance

By Maya Mayne

Bright lights,

The roar of a crowd,

A tingling in your fingers.

Your time to shine,

In a theater of anticipation.

A weary step onto the creaking stage.

Confidence builds in every movement.

Nerves long forgotten,

Become a fuel,

pushing you on.

The flow of a performance,

Rehearsed in precise forms,

Sets the audience in awe.

The music syncs with a beating,

Thumping in your chest.

Lost in the glamour of the lights,

The music has ceased,

A silence consumes the air,

For a single moment of beauty.

A pleased rumble fills the room,

Cheers ring through your ears,

Standing among the applause.

Motivation's Journey

By Maya Mayne

The warmth comforts my face,

Embracing the company of the sun.

A joy tugs at my lips,

Fingers grazing the blades of grass.

A rainbow left in the aftermath,

Of a pouring rain.

The rustle of dew leaves,

Calm my mind's storm.

The soft winds shove me,

Towards the opportunities,

Of my future.

I jolt up,

Under the influence of the wind,

To motivate my steps.

I will become what I foresee,

Working to reach my goals,

One step at a time.

Friends

By Varga Michaud

Friends can help you

Friends can hurt you

Friends can heal you

Friends can break you

Pick the right friends

And they will treat you

Choose wisely.

Definition of Perfect

By Maya Mayne

Be proud and shout to the stars,

Bend the expectation and take charge.

No one is faultless,

So no need to be heartless.

Find your brilliant mind,

There is no need to hide.

Embrace your flaws,

And join the cause.

A Letter to Who Says

By Maya Mayne

Dear Who Says,

Who Says I have to be perfect.

Who Says I’m weird.

Who Says I’m too lonesome.

Who Says I have to act like everyone else.

Who Says they know how I feel.

Who Says I’ll grow out of it.

Who says they know me better than myself?
